Staff Spotlight: Ashton Haywood

This week's Staff Spotlight shines on Ashton Haywood, our talented art teacher at STEAM Elementary! Ashton is beginning her 5th year with NPS, where she inspires creativity and confidence in her students every day.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Ashton shared, "I love creating works of art with my students and watching them grow—not just physically, but developmentally." Her classroom is a place where imagination thrives, and every student is encouraged to express themselves through art.

To Ashton, #RaiderPride means "unconditional love and support for one another as one big Raider family." That sense of community is something she brings into her classroom and carries with her beyond the school day.

Speaking of beyond the classroom, Ashton can often be found on the stage! She recently earned the title of Mrs. Arkansas-America 2026, a goal that combined personal growth with a passion for serving others.

Ashton hopes her journey sends an encouraging message to students and families:

"Although competing for Mrs. Arkansas-America may seem very different from what we do in the classroom, it's actually rooted in many of the same values we talk about every day with our Raider RISE: Respect, Inclusiveness, Safety, and Engagement. Competing in a pageant isn't just about being on stage—it's about setting goals, pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, and using your voice to make a positive impact in your community.

I want my students to see that no matter your age or path, you can continue to grow, challenge yourself, and chase your dreams. I hope this experience shows our students and parents that it's okay to try new things, to be brave even when you're nervous, and to take pride in who you are. Whether it's in the classroom, on a stage, or in everyday life, what matters most is showing up as your best self and supporting others along the way"
